Our story
For 30 years, Building Bridges has invited community members into open conversations and opened their hearts to explore the impact of structural and systemic racism in a meaningful way to mobilize Asheville to dismantle racism, one conversation at a time.
The Asheville you know today has been greatly shaped by our work over the past three decades. Over 2700 people of multiracial backgrounds have participated in 63 sessions of our 9-week workshop series and brought their learning back into the community. Our program results in community members of all races who are better educated about racial inequity and white folks who are more focused on using their privilege to benefit people who are Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color. Building Bridges’ impact reaches far and wide across our region and influences people to get deep and meaningful about enacting racial equity in many places of entrenched inequity.
Thirty years is an exceptionally long time for an all-volunteer organization to persist and thrive, so we are celebrating in style! The evening will include a reception and cocktail hour; a seated dinner; a brief program; dessert; and live entertainment, conversation.
We are inviting equity-minded individuals the opportunity to invest in Building Bridges as sponsors of this important and celebratory evening. Your contribution supports us in connecting and strengthening our relationships with the community and positioning ourselves to extend and expand our impact and reach in Western North Carolina.
